Happy Independence Day to the Lakota Nation

And sometimes it can be refreshed simply by asserting one’s natural right.
As noted by my friends Difranco and Mark (and a few other sources) the Lakota nation has declared its independence by withdrawing from treaties with the United States.
Congratulations to the Lakota. Maybe they will inspire more Sovereign Nations to reach for their own freedom?
It’s about time. If/and/or when, the United States repents of it’s ethnic and cultural genocide on ALL Native Americans and makes an open and public act of contrition, THEN maybe some healing can begin. America is sorely in heed of healing and that process cannot begin without America’s Natives.
