I finally spent money on iTunes Music Store http://blog.crankygeek.com/archives/2005/12/29/i-finally-spent-money-on-itunes-music-store/ http://blog.crankygeek.com/archives/2005/12/29/i-finally-spent-money-on-itunes-music-store/#comments Thu, 29 Dec 2005 21:25:50 +0000 crankygeek http://blog.crankygeek.com/?p=55 (And a MarsEdit beta test posting.)

Many moons ago I asked for recommendations on how to best spend my free Slurpee iTunes credits.

I finally decided to get Wilco’s Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. Apparently, this is an “essential,” so I’ve been lax in not getting it before now. And I have to admit that the title grabbed my attention since those are all Nato names given to Soviet submarine classes, which you may or may not know is something that interests me.

  • Yankee – Nuclear Ballistic/Cruise Missile sub
  • Hotel – Nuclear Ballistic Missile sub
  • Foxtrot – Diesel-Electric Patrol sub

For his winning suggestion, Nick earns a beer next time we’re both in Denver since the free credits I had expired. That means I left a few songs on the table, too, dang it.

The rest of the suggestions include no-brainers (i.e., I should already have them) and some others that look interesting. If you’re looking for a non-exhaustive music recommendation list, it’s as good a place to start as any.

Free iTunes credits and nowhere to spend them http://blog.crankygeek.com/archives/2005/08/23/slurpee-itunes-credits/ http://blog.crankygeek.com/archives/2005/08/23/slurpee-itunes-credits/#comments Wed, 24 Aug 2005 01:47:18 +0000 crankygeek http://blog.crankygeek.com/?p=41 After reading Nick’s post about Zappa, I thought I’d finally found a home for all the iTunes credits I’ve been racking up due to my newfound Slurpee addiction. However after poking through his iMix, I found that, much to my chagrin, I’m just not sophisticated enough to appreciate Zappa’s work.

So here I sit with credits to burn by the end of September and absolutely no interest in anything I can find by poking around ITMS. I’m looking for suggestions.

If you suggest something that I end up buying, I’ll send you the code from my next Slurpee as a reward and I’ll post a link to your site which should drive at least one or two new people your way. The potential Google Adwords revenue alone should make it worth your time.
